My Client Process: Discovery to Launch
Why Process Matters More Than Code
The biggest risk in a client project isn't a bug - it's a misunderstanding. Most failed projects fail because of unclear scope, not bad code. That's why I invest heavily in process. You can check out my services and pricing for the full breakdown of what I offer.
The Four Steps
1. Discovery Call (30 minutes, free)
I ask three questions: - What problem are you trying to solve? - Who will use this, and how? - What does success look like in 3 months?
This tells me whether we're a good fit and gives me enough to write a proposal.
2. Proposal (delivered within 48 hours)
Every proposal includes: - Feature breakdown with priorities - Timeline with milestones - Fixed price (not hourly) - What's explicitly out of scope
Fixed pricing removes anxiety. The client knows exactly what they're paying, and I know exactly what I'm building.
3. Build (weekly demos)
Every Friday, I record a 5-minute Microsoft Teams walkthrough showing what I built that week. Clients can comment, request tweaks, and see real progress. This eliminates the "black box" feeling of software development.
4. Launch + 30 Days Support
I handle deployment, domain setup, and monitoring. Then I provide 30 days of free support for bugs and minor tweaks. After that, we can discuss a maintenance retainer.
Why Clients Like This
No surprises. No scope creep. No "it's almost done" for 3 months. Just a clear process with visible progress every week.
